After watching Outfoxed

Briefly answer the following questions:

1. What are some of the techniques used by Fox News that are shown in the movie that appear to "bias" the news presentation?

2. What other examples of news "bias" have you observed in local or national or cable news?

3. Do you think that "fair and balanced" correctly depicts the journalism that you read or see? Should the news be based on "news judgment"? Is cable news too opinionated?

1) they blur the line between news and commentary. the anchors are conservatrive repulbicans and throw in their opinion on stuff.

2) The only thing I've experienced is bias on fox news.

3) News anchors should do nothing but report the news. If they throw in their opinions it messes with people heads. They dont get the real story

1. They pick and choose what to show. Also, all the reporters are republicans and they blurr their opinions in with the stories they record and show to the general public. Also, they don't site their sources. They use the words "some people say" to insinuate that they have secret sources that support their opinions.

2. Fox news

3. News should be based on facts, not judgment and it's way to opinionated now. And news isn't fairly balanced.

There were plenty of times when the Fox News didn't state their sources and would often say "Some people say..."

1. What are some of the techniques used by Fox News that are shown in the movie that appear to "bias" the news presentation? Shutting down other people. Telling people to shut up.

2. What other examples of news "bias" have you observed in local or national or cable news? Visual Propaganda

3. Do you think that "fair and balanced" correctly depicts the journalism that you read or see? Should the news be based on "news judgment"? Is cable news too opinionated? I do not think that fair and balance correctly depicts journalism. News should not be based on news judgement

1. -One technique Fox News used to slant the viewpoint, is to shut down people when they made a point that disagreed with them. They told them to "shut up" and listen. They also quoted that "some people say" with no reliable source so the anchors can include their personal opinion. This makes it sound factual which mind controls people into thinking it's true.

2. -No specific examples come to mind, but other networks also like to add "some people say" to cover their own views. They may also edit specific parts of top stories to lean the favor in one direction.

3. -Fair and balanced doesn't depict the journalism being produced now. News should not be based on "news judgement" it should be based on factual information. The viewers should then later be able to form their own opinion from information being shown.

1. What are some of the techniques used by Fox News that are shown in the movie that appear to "bias" the news presentation?

propaganda, the "some people say" technique. Fox news also uses the words shut up to limit further views against fox's alone.

2. What other examples of news "bias" have you observed in local or national or cable news?

its obvious that other news stations use the same or similar techniques. especially the "some people say" technique, which allows the news broadcasters to insert thier own personal news anonymously. also to provide opions in thier favor. A news station might make lesser relevant stories top news.

3. Do you think that "fair and balanced" correctly depicts the journalism that you read or see? Should the news be based on "news judgment"? Is cable news too opinionated?

I think that news is to opinonated, bias. most of the time your not getting facts, your gettingthier personal thought

1. propaganda
No sources

2. "Some People say"
Screaming at one another

3. Cable news is way to opinionated and should be based on the facts and not the opinions of the writers.
